About Us:

John Turrill BSc FRICS
From the West Country, John was educated at Bristol Grammar School and then Reading School “a long time ago”. He went on to the College of Estate Management [then part of London University] in 1967 and achieved what might best be described as beer drinker’s degree in 1970. He joined Dick Vanderpump FRICS in Reading in 1971 at the starting salary of 20 guineas a week as a graduate surveyor and qualified as an Associate of the Institution in 1973.
John started his own Surveying practice in 1975, initially in Caversham and soon after in Reading town centre, with an emphasis on property management – a discipline from which he has never moved far. In 1979 John was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. As principal of Chaneys he is multi disciplined but a lot of his work is management biased. Whether Auctioning, Valuing or Surveying much of what he does relates back to property that Chaneys have been involved in in a management capacity.
Outside work John’s interests are countryside orientated. At one time he ran a beef herd of 150 cattle on his farm but now his property and other business interests take priority. He is an accomplished clay pigeon shot and still competes from time to time as well as an enthusiastic but average golfer however his family and running the farm take much of his spare time.

Amy Fisher BSc Hons MRICS
Amy is one of two graduate Surveyors working for Chaneys Chartered Surveyors. She became involved in property slightly later in life than most graduates when at the age of 24 she embarked on a Property Agency and Marketing Degree at The Royal Agricultural College Cirencester. She achieved an Honours Degree in 2006 and joined Carroll and Partners in Wallingford helping with surveys as well as commercial and residential valuations. In 2007 she joined Chaneys Chartered Surveyors as a graduate Surveyor dealing with commercial and residential property management as well as sales and valuations along with other Surveying work.
Amy is from a rural and farming background having lived in South Oxfordshire all of her life. Before Cirencester she was heavily involved in the world of horses from managing yards to schooling young horses. Amongst her many skills she is an accomplished equine teacher and Dressage competitor. Work and studying take up much of her time and Fringe, her 16.2 hh Anglo-Irish Thoroughbred, is currently enjoying a comfortable retirement. Her other interests include ice skating when time allows and drawing. Her taste in art reflects her other interests with a particular liking for animal portraits.

Andrew Copley BSc PG DipSurv MRICS
Andrew first became involved in property while working part time at Frank Farr Estate Agents in Slough. After completing a Computer Science Degree at the University of Bedfordshire he took up this position full time with ambitions to progress in real estate. A chance meeting in 2004 with Keith Thompson of Thompson Wilson Chartered Surveyors in High Wycombe lead to Andrew taking a position as a Graduate Surveyor studying a Post Graduate Diploma in Surveying at the College of Estate Management Reading. Andrew subsequently became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2006. At Thompson Wilson Andrew was a General Practice Surveyor undertaking Building Surveys and valuations as well as managing a large mixed use portfolio of properties. It was here that Andrew’s passion for property management grew.
In 2008 Andrew became a Director of Chaneys Chartered Surveyors in charge of Estate and Service Charge Management. With his surveying background and knowledge of computing Andrew has developed software and systems to efficiently manage a large number of developments in Reading and the Thames Valley area. He enjoys working closely with clients and developing a tailored management relationship with each.
Outside work Andrew is a keen adventure sportsman who takes part in Kayaking and races his Mountain Bike in competitions across the South. He also enjoys a more sedate game of golf, which is often not as relaxing as he hoped!

Lynn Eley
Lynn first started working with John in 1984 just after leaving school as assistant book keeper and has worked for him ever since “for longer than she cares to remember!” An expert with figures her role is to supervise and manage the accounts side of management – an essential side of the business. With the aid of advanced computer systems Lynn looks after literally many thousands of financial transactions a year making sure that people receive their money promptly and on time.
Married and with one teenage son Lynn is a regular visitor to the gym and takes her fitness very seriously. She and her family holiday regularly in North Devon where she would “retire to tomorrow” if she wasn’t so busy looking after Chaney’s clients and their many financial demands.
